Melton Little has worn many hats in Manatee County: attorney, small-business owner, real estate professional, youth coach, volunteer, husband, and father. Together, those roles have given him a broad understanding of how public policy reaches families, businesses, nonprofits, and neighborhoods.

Nearly four decades of professional experience

Melton began practicing law in 1986. Over the decades, he has represented people facing serious personal and family challenges, built a local law practice, and learned how laws and institutions work in the real lives of ordinary people.

That work requires preparation, judgment, negotiation, and the ability to make a clear case under pressure. Those are practical skills for a legislator who must read complex proposals, ask the right questions, and explain decisions to the people he represents.

Melton Little's record of community service

Melton's service extends beyond his career. He has coached youth basketball, soccer, and football, served on nonprofit boards, provided more than 600 hours of pro bono legal service, and helped organize a scholarship program that awarded more than $195,000 to over 65 Manatee County high-school seniors.

His community work has earned the Boys & Girls Club National Medallion, the Manatee County Bar Association Community Service Award, and the association's William C. Grimes Award for Lifetime Achievement in Community Service.

Melton grew up in Bayshore Gardens, attended Bayshore High School, and built his life in Manatee County. He knows the community through decades of work, service, family life, and friendship.
