Melton wants to reduce excessive taxation and regulation while reforming the tangible personal property tax. He proposes raising its exemption and protecting businesses with 10 or fewer employees.

Melton recognizes that growth is inevitable, but unchecked sprawl is not. He believes roads, infrastructure, water capacity, and other essential services must be secured as Manatee County grows.

Florida’s 67 counties have different needs. Melton opposes one-size-fits-all mandates from Tallahassee and believes local communities should retain the authority to address local issues.

Melton has accepted no developer money, keeping his campaign accountable to the people of Manatee County—not powerful special interests.
